Wait what? They're saying your gearbox has been hanging off the engine without a mount?  :undecided:
They didn't mean that the gearbox mount is worn out? Or is there actually no mount?
A gearbox mount is a must, it's the only other thing that supports the box other than the bolts around the box to the block.

They said there was no mount! Ive only had the car 3 weeks. Guess i know why it was so cheap now lol ive done over 500 miles in it to. Will i notice the car driving handling or even changing gear better?

Massive difference.

Surprised there is no mount. Mine went bang (hydraulic mount) and leaked fluid everywhere.
The engine was so loose you could rock it by hand.
I changed all the mounts whilst I was at it.

Wait what, which mount of yours went? Trog.. I thought the only "liquid" mount was the rear one on the engine side..
Think about how your car puts the power down, the gearbox basically takes all the force each time you accelerate, by not having that gearbox mount, each time you accelerate it will in theory "Push" the engine and twist it to some extent.

That explains the rattle any time i pressed the accelerator slightly hard, why it didnt shift too well, why it didnt like getting past 80mph and the occasional loud clung when changing gears :-)

The gear box one is the only liquid one on my 8v

Save the money and fit it yourself, easy enough to do.

What the hell...a badly worn mount is one thing but to not actually have one fitted what so ever is ridiculous!
