Heated Leather Recaro repair

Fitted my 3.5 color concept interior. Passenger seat heats up fine. Now the driver's doesn't work, tried both relay's in passenger, both work. Both in driver's, no heat. So I guessed it was the heating elements; I'd read you fix them so I went about taking the seat apart.

Got to a point where staples needed to be pulled, so I stopped as I don't have the right staple gun. I did notice the elements are "housed" in cloth, so can't see how it could be repaired. I did also read they are around £35 to replace.

Was debating on taking the seat somewhere and getting it repaired, but would think it would cost a fortune. And if I could do it at the cost of a new element and a staple gun, then I will. Doesn't look too hard. Only thing being would the element be a VW part?

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Anyone know where you can buy the heated elements apart from VW? Its over £150 from there!

I haven't worked on Mk3 recaro's only Mk4 ones so can't help much sorry

I got a quote for £45 to swap the elements over, which is fine. Just need to find the elements but according to VW there are 2 different parts, backrest and bottom and cost £160. Hmmmmm.

I can check part numbers for you on ETKA if you like? You might be able to save a few quid by going through TPS rather than dealer though?

I got 535 963 557 A and 535 963 555 C from the dealership. I'll get a quote from TPS next week.

elements can be repaired by fixing the burn break. a soldering iron, and some heatshrink...should be good to go but you need the heater pads out first.
