anyone tryed fitting one of these?
« on: 12 November 2012, 11:11 »
As title says, stumbled across this and its got me thinking...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shark-Fin-Car-Roof-Mount-AM-FM-Radio-Aerial-Antenna-Mast-VW-BMW-Navigation-Style-/320995535700?pt=UK_Other_Clothing_Protection&var=510082287007&hash=item4abcd32b54

But are they a paint to fit? I mean how do you even remove the OEM one and would I be able to get that new one sprayed?

lining off at the back and there is a bolt holding the old one in, undo and remove and install the new one, I personally would blank mine off given the choice, never listen to the radio lol
but what you have found as long as it is quite small should be ok, seen some on other cars and they are massive!
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

Not sure on those shark fin aerials, look tacky IMO. How about the 8" polo aerial? I have one on mine its awesome!

As for removal/fitting, here is a guide: http://forums.generationdub.com/showthread.php?t=16270&page=1

you dont have to remove all the headlining, just enough to get at the bolt holding the antenna.
Shouldnt take long at all to actually do -
