Why not a Disco? Something that will properly handle snow and offroad conditions and have a reasonably comfortable interior.

What ARE the requirements then?

I'd have a Tiguan in a heartbeat, unless there was a Yeti in front of it (or anywhere in sight), then I wouldn't get to the Tiguan.

But all this is immaterial unless we have a purchasing specification.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Holiday cottages on the Isle of Wight for 2-10 people? PM me.

Series 2 TD5 disco go for it, avoid a cheap D3 for under 10k... In all honesty, avoid D3 completely... Unless your prepared to shell out ££££££ on keeping it on the road.

Defender 90 all the way id have one if i had the cash. Doubt youl get a puma under 10k though, would probably be a TD5. Nothing wrong with that though.  Stoping making the Defender at some point shortly anyway. A DC130 like thing to come with rubber bumpers etc hahah........

10k
4wd
good fuel economy
not starship mileage
comfortable inside - used as a daily
MUST handle hills and snow as it is essential to travel from a remote location everyday
be able to handle 3 hour motorway journeys happily
be able to be used to transport surfboards easily

10k
good fuel economy

That eliminates the entire Land Rover range then.

T5 4motion isn't a bad shout, but the spec'd be pretty basic for £10k.

Tiguan definitely satisfies your requirements.  Hopefully you/whoever it's required for can put up with the agricultural gear-shift and high clutch.

If it's serious winter work you need it for then get a set of wheels and winter tyres for it - you'll soon make people in Land Rovers look stoopid with that combination.

looked at the T5's but they were all very high milage that we could find

test drove a Tiguan yesterday and although it wasn't 'exciting' it wasn't offensive

good call on the winter wheels ;)

Audi Allroad? Quite a few about for your 10k budget mostly between 80-100k miles though, what would you class as starship miles?
Currently pootling around in our family wagen, a Tiguan SEL 😂
