Time to next service indicator
« on: 08 November 2012, 11:53 »
I had my car serviced yesterday and when I asked, they told me the service indicator had been set to long life. When I looked on the DIS, I was expecting to see 730 days or 20,000 miles to next service. However, the display says ---, ---.

Is this normal? Does it take a while for it to come up on the display? I've driven about 30 miles since picking it up yesterday.

Yes, it takes a little while for it to build up its prediction on when the service is due and will use your driving style etc. over the first 100 or so miles to do this (so I was told when I asked the same question)

I don't have any display showing this in my Golf, any reason for this?

You sure? In the settings menu (lights - comf ind - locks - etc) there is a second page if you keep scrolling down. It's in the one marked "info".

 :embarrassed:

Yup, there it is.

In the Leon it's displayed as one of the screens you can scroll through when driving on the left/right controls.

Thanks.

My ED35 displays this when scrolling left/right. Might be a setting in the menu or a change on later cars?

There are differences in later cars. Like being able to turn on or off DRL's via the DIS rather than the indicator / flasher stalk.

I'm sure its on the first page of the MFD settings at the bottom it says Service. Select that then it shows Info to show miles a days left until next service is due.

I've heard you have to drive it for a while before it shows but mine has always shown straight after the service. It doesn't calculate it correctly, mine is set to 10k or 12 months after I have it serviced it always shows 9200 miles or 372 days.
