URGENT : Help Needed sourcing a gearbox.
« on: 15 July 2005, 22:45 »
I need help urgently and i am trying all means possible so apologies before hand ...

I am looking to source a gearbox for the following vehicle.

Seat Ibiza 2.0 8v Gti (AGG engine) 1997 "R" reg.

Does anyone know of the best place to source one, or does anyone know what other gearboxes if any would also fit in there from other vehicles such as VW's etc..

Thanks a lot.

I just bought a used gearbox from "Stevens Volkswagen Dismantlers"

They are based near Chelmsford, Essex

You'll be looking at £150 for the box (thats what my mk2 gti cost anyway)

They all know their sh!t down there so ask about the Beefa.

Mate, im sure the ibiza 8v gti uses the same box as the mk3 golf gti 8v, in which case, its the 020 box which is also found on mk2 golfs with different ratios in.

So try scrappers, those internet part finders are good, some will give you a warranty on things like gearboxes, or try a vw salvage firm, loads advertise in the back of vw magazines. Have a sneeky look while in the newsagents!
