Thermostat problem

Fitted new thermostat because car wasn't warming up, so everything was going smoothly replaced thermostat and a new o ring, but now after i have filled up with coolant it just keeps leaking from the seal. Bolts are tight. its a vw golf mk4 1.6sr btw. Any ideas what else i could do

Seal fitted on the wrong side of the thermostat?

yes, fitted housing, rubber seal, thermostat. thats the right order isnt it? :\

I can't remember mate, is it all fitted the same way it was removed? if the seal was fitted on the wrong side of the thermostat  it would cause it to leak. Either that or there is a problem with the flange that holds it all in place.

Just checked the ordering it goes in on google and it correct. Might try some gasket sealant on there tomorrow. Its hard to get access because of the altenator.

try it the other way round. It will piss out if its the wrong way round, and clearly yours is.
