I have just bought an 81 GTI 1600 5 speed with a view to a little gentle rallying. It has had a nasty Zender body kit for 30 years which is no doubt hiding some rust, so I am not spoiling a mint example. Just driven 150 miles home in it. Forgotten the joy of short gearing, big windows and narrow tyres. Wish me luck and if there is anyone like-minded near MK do get in touch.
