Top mounts and bearings question
« on: 01 November 2012, 12:05 »
Hey guys, my coilovers arrived this morning :) but before i fit them prob gunna wait till after xmas. I wanted to replace the top mounts and bearings but after ringing both GSF and VW i got two different prices.

GSF said it would be £8-9 per side inc VAT.
VW said it would be £23 per side exc VAT.

I know the GSF parts wont be OEM but when i asked they told me they are made to the exact same spec as the VW OEM parts which to my understanding would mean the quality of rubber would be the same?

So my question is which would you advise i buy guys? Unless you know of a better brand?

Honestly I kept buying ebay specials for about £15 they lasted about 12-18months everytime but I liked that as its good to get the shocks off after that amount of time to maintain them. Clean and grease them up etc.

If money wasnt an object then go TPS mate near Splott market mate they use genuine parts from VW.
1.6-1.8t AGU K03s, Forge actuator, Forge 007p, turbo back exhuast, Ths front mount, Catch can, 5 piece silicone boost pipes and creation sports tip. Stage 2 atm 232bhp 270lbs. Waiting for custom mapping :-)

I dnt care about the cost really more of the fact "should i pay more for the same" ill give them a ring now. Besides changing what i stated is there anything else u would advise?

GSF/ECP either or for top mounts and bearing I say. I used egay for mine...

VW ones will just have the VW price tag with similiar, if not the same, as OEM quality ones.

I'm running GSF ones on mine and they've been on/off a couple of times over the last year or so...no complaints so far!
