Had a customer with a 1984 GTI 8V that had well over 360,000 on it genuine mileage, fully stamped service history ( filled up a few service books as you can probably imagine), the previous owner who was also a customer used to drive all over Europe in it.
It drove well , very smooth but it seemed to have lost its edge ( I wonder why
) unfortunately it got rear ended and so written off which meant we never got to see how far it could get
The only other car I worked on that got near that was a d reg Audi 80 1.8E with over 250,000 on the clock .
Up until that point I thought that only Diesels could clock up that sort of mileage
Anyone know of a higher achieved mileage in a VW than this as I wouldn't be surprised ?
