Pedal box group buy
« on: 26 October 2012, 13:38 »
Was at DTUK today and was asking about the DTE pedal box. It sounds very tempting and gets very good feedback from users. I had a look at the unit and it looks very good and they lad said I can have a test drive with it fitted on my car.

The guy was helpful and mentioned if I was on any forums. A possible group buy could be sorted.

Anyone interested in a possible group buy?

Genuine interest only. I want to get some proper numbers before I approach the shop.

Thanks

I may be interested if it improves driveability. I know you're in the same boat as me, but of course, it all comes down to price.

been a long week and i may be being a f'wit but essentially what they are saying is they are giving you a non linear throttle map saying its better?

VW stock set up is non linear and why a lot of people don't like it on mapped cars as its hard modulating the power with added boost

one of the best things i did was go for a linear throttle map with stage 2, took a few days to get used to but way more drivable and predictable

Same here, never heard of it. Getting mine mapped soon, so this might be of some use.

the pedal box just adjusts the signal sent from the throttle pedal to the ECU. you can make it more sensitive or less sensitive as the unit has a key pad.

the unit plugs in the back of the throttle pedal.

its main function is to adjust/reduce the amount of hesitation after pressing the throttle pedal, reduce hesitation in RPM dropping after lifting off the pedal and reduce the amount of travel before anything actually happens - the golf  has about 1/2" of travel before the RPMs actually rise. also when you change gear the car hesitates slightly before allowing you to apply the power again.

unfortunately this cant be mapped out so needs a separate unit such as this to adjust the pedal feel/sensitivity.
