« on: 25 October 2012, 22:42 »
Hope someone can help me my car is a mk4 golf gti 1.8 turbo

I was driving down the motor away and a warning came up on the dash bored saying low oil pressure stop engine so I came of the motorway and found a place to stop looked at the engine and let it cool down started it back up same warning light I had to drive it for 5 mins so I could get the car towed home my car was sounding like a diesel. Got it home it still starts up. but not able to have anyone to look at it at the moment.

I was thinking turbo maybe??

Any ideas people?

Thanks

Damage might be done ,never drive it or you will kill the engine. Its a common fault. The oil pickup pipe is blocked in the sump. When ever this happens turn off straight away. Vw change pickup pipe and a few more and check cam .Ill find link tomorrow i put it on here. Or seach something i posted about oil i think. :undecided:

I cant find the link i posted on here. Just remove and clean the pickup pipe and hope the engine never got damage from a lack of oil. http://rac-london.co.uk/2012/02/29/blocked-oil-pick-up-pipe/

I'm afraid mate, 'STOP ENGINE' means just that, it's not a 'when you can' request, it's an immediate order. If you don't turn the key off straight away, it'll probably have buggered it.

Sounds like you did far too much driving with no oil pressure.

I'd be preparing for the worst.
