Golf MK4 2.0 8v 2002
« on: 24 October 2012, 13:18 »
Hi,

I have a Golf MK4 2.0 8V, I bought the car recently knowing it had this problem but I'm trying to figure out exactly how to resolve it.

Anyway, the problem in question is I have the engine management light ON and sometimes it will flash (usually when I start driving it down the road), the engine is shaking and when I go to put my foot down it has power but not much, doesn't seem to want to go anywhere 30 - 40 max maybe?

I have replaced the HT leads, and the spark plugs have been recently done by the previous owner.

I have a blow in the exhaust too somewhere, would this cause lack of power and for the engine to shake?

Any help would be much appreciated,

Chris

cat or flexi colapsed? do the revs max out at like 2-3 k or can it still redline?

Sorry buddy forgot I posted this, ended up being the 2 & 3 cylinder spark plug thread, which was damaged by incorrect plug fitting according to the garage.

Ignition coil had to be replaced as well.

The engine management light was on for the lambda sensor fault.

It's turning out to be an expensive repair, with all the other bits I asked for.

Thanks for the thumbs up though and pointers.
