Google will tell you that.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Had a play with a few mid range SLR's and they all seemed to give 'ok' pictures but soon as you up the lens game its a whole different camera.

Yes, but the 'up the lens game' would be a budget buster here, really, wouldn't it?

You should also consider the Nikon D3200 better image quality and continuous auto focus during movie mode.

The Canon has the advantage with the flip out screen and auto bracketing.

I've got a D3200 as my second body and it's a fantastic camera and highly recommended for the money.

Also if you partner wants this for shooting nails then you might want to consider a lens suitable for close up work (Macro) and a cheap prime 35mm f/1.8 for the video work.

Ebays always good for second hand stuff, though if it's a present that might not be such a blinding idea!  Removes some of the glitter of it all.
61 Plate GTD 5dr, Shadow Blue, 18" Charleston's, Flat Tyre Indicator, Cruise Control, Bi-xenon (With Dynamic Curve), Storage Pack, Winter Pack and RCD 510.
