CD Changer to MDI?
« on: 21 October 2012, 21:52 »
Hi,

I have an MFD2 in my car with a 6 disk changer in the armrest, I have been told that I could also put an MDI interface in the glovebox.

So I have a few questions regarding this and other setups:

1. Is this true? Can I keep the changer and have an MDI with the MFD2?

2. What functionality do you get if you plug in an Ipod? Can I change the track from the stereo? Can I browse the menu?

3. If I upgraded to a RNS 510 do I need to purchase a seperate bluetooth module or does it come as part of the unit?

Thanks,

Hey
You can fit the MDI module into your armrest, but you will lose your cd changer.  Im sure you have to swap the lead that feeds into the armrest also.

I'v not had a go of a MFD2, so unsure if it will work with the MDI unit

As for the bluetooth, im 99% sure its a separate unit from the RNS-510.  I have the RCD-510 for DAB in my MK5 & it requires the extra bluetooth unit
