Lambda sensor location and replacement??
« on: 21 October 2012, 16:25 »
Hi All,

Going through the rough idling ordeal MAF changed still hunting still have the following fault codes

1/00520 Maf
2/00523 IAT sensor (part of MAF??)
3/ 00537 Oxygen sensor
4/ idle air control reg sensor
5/ 00557 appeared recently power steering pressure switch.

Can see this is going to be frustrating, costly and timely to sort, can anyone suggest what course I go done next lambda sensor? as when I start car up strong smell of petrol from back of car. I know it can be all manner of things. The rough idling resulted after the car was MOT'D, it failed on emissions garage had it revd it alot possibly cleaned throttle body and it passed mot, since then nothing but a nightmare!.

Car is an old S Reg on an AKL engine.

Went to look at a 53 mk4 1.4 seemed fairly good all round, seller mentioned he bought it cheap as cambelt had gone but not done any damage???? cambelt replaced. Took it for a test drive seemed ok but at slow speed kept getting a knocking noise from bottom of car, could bottom end have gone,he also mentioned an oil leak which I had clocked. He only had one key also!.

Anyway, I walked away, I know its not a new car! think I did right!

If anyone can shed any light on the idling issue it would be appreciated!

Thanks

Jason

Throttle body clean?  Gasket all good where it meets inlet?  No splits in air pipe to TB?
