Golf mk2 1.8 8V k-JET into Audi 100
« on: 20 October 2012, 19:55 »
Hi Guys, i wonder if anyone can help me out here.
My Mk2 Golf was written off recently by a Deaf/dumb/blind/mute polish truck driver and although the car is destined for the scrap heap in the sky, i cannot bear to part with it before using at least some parts on another project.
I have a 1985 audi 100 1.8l on a pooberg carb and fancy putting the gti motor in it for a little more bhp/better cold starting.
My question is, has anyone done this and how hard is it.  all the spannering is well within my capabilities, but there are a couple of sensors etc on the K-jet system that i wont have loom connections for and wonder is anyone can help out with these? Are they things i can retro wire or do i need the K-Jet loom?
Any help would be gratefully received.
One last thing, whats the difference on the bottom end of these motors, shall i swap the whole block or just the heads?

Thought mk1 s were based on Audi 100s. Could be wrong though

Audi 100 is longitudinal motor, so no.

Due to this completely different mounting you would need a lot of different ancilliary parts to make the motor work.  A lot of these could come off the carb motor, but stuff like the injection lines will be different lengths and the metering head hood and inlet pipes will be totally different.

You'll also need a high pressure pump on the A100 too.

I'd let your archaic motor head to its final resting place if I were you.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
