tornado red valver 67k or not erm
« on: 20 October 2012, 10:25 »
Right not posted for a while since I sold my black valver, been offered a tornado red valver this morning showing 67k, no history apart from two old old mots 35k 1995 and 42K 1996. vosa checks out 2005 60145, 2006, 61025 2007 62098, 2008, 64K then gap to 2010 64K, 2011 66K 2012 67K (these are approx as f also car has had 5 prevous owners. Car is modified but in 90's styling ie eyebow spoiler clear indicartors and oval exhaust and lowered, missing the ra's on serbrings. interior clean apart from holes in carpet from heels and worn rubbers so suspect the mileage has had a haircut. Car is very very clean bumpers need a fettle but no rust dents etc. Also headlining has been replaced and apart from the wrong material done very very well, has had a wing on it at some point but is a vag one so suspect a long time ago. I am pondering
needs a starter as lazy and the engine bay is a mess needs rocker gasket good clean and gear lever is sloppy.
I have bought and sold 100's of these as some of you know but this one has stumped me. If its right miles its worth easy 4 to 5k with some tlc. If its wrong miles and go on condition 2k to 3K maybe. Last two owners with in the last two years so no help there. If it was any other colour than red would have it for myself again as do miss mine but then I never drove it did less than 10 miles in the last year of ownership.

Worn carpet mat says to me done more than 60K TBF. I've known some clocks have stopped working around 60K 4K 5K everyting should be spot on rather turn it around quicker in this climate.

Might not of ever had a set of mats in it and some builder drove it for years.  Our work vans have 10,000 miles or less and no mats and some of them there is no carpet left from boots.

bought it so look out for it on ebay soon at £1995. going to sell it as mileage disclaimed as cant prove it's right, going to cambelt it, its rust free and dent free so going on condition, we all know what it would be worth if there was history for the mileage.

Guess its upto Rob to decide if prevous owner had a pair of size 12 and used it for building work
At this stage you can only assume its over 20 odd years old and worn seats could have been changed and even worn mats. We dont even have pictures to see what overall condition its in. I'm only commenting on whats been offered, but in my experience with high millers I always check bolsters and mats and pedal wear, steering wheel, gear knob leather wear, tell, tell signs of high millage.
Taking it as face value and the all important whats it worth thread.........?
If he can sell it and make profit then go for a punt!
I'm sure the real question is how much of a turn around you can make

Hi Rob, hows it going...
Whats it like for Tin Worm? wings and rear arches are unimportant these days, its all about rear shocker mounts, inner sills and "A" posts and floor pan  anything else is run of the mill...
I know 3 or 4 people looking for mint shells! :lipsrsealed:

True. It's his decision and clocks do break and stop working As I ve found out when I have bought a mk2 before. And I also know how easy they are to change the mileage.
