Mop mop mop

Had a few scratches on my car so took it back to the stealer. They are gonna machine polish it with a mop for me, sweet!  :grin:

Will defo get some pics up once its done, as long as its not raining!

A mop is an old method of getting rid of swirls, I suspect that they use that terminology but as the author says a machine polish. I can't imagine anyone uses the mop technique anymore?

Yeah they do...the 'mop' was usually a wool bonnet on a rotary polisher...and in the wrong hands will do far more damage than good. Every bodyshop I know still uses a wool mop to get rid of nibs in the paint and flatten fresh paintwork...it's good, but aggressive as hell!
I would be sweating if my dealer offered to 'mop' my paintwork.

^This! Have a look at my thread in the detailing section of a dealers attempts to fix a paint issue, it was a Volvo dealer so perhaps VW may be different but like Rhyso says you have been warned!

I had the same problem on a brand new car, they got a pro detailer to do it while i was there.

There's no way I'd let Ridgeway VW touch my car in that way.


If it were me, I'd make sure they had a pro doing it and not their rag man who cleans the cars after a service.
