Front engine mounts all the same ?
« on: 17 October 2012, 22:51 »
My front mount in the subframe is duff so need to change it , are they all compatible across models of mk3 ?
Are Some stiffer than others  (non poly) ?

I have a 1.8 ADZ engine in a 95 mk3
Also lastly where's best to buy :)

P.s have search but didn't find out f they were all the same ?

They are different. But think its only the 16v and vr6.

Pretty sure they all fit mind.

Threaded bar, steel tube, large washers & 2 locking nuts = solid front mount, great improvement, no extra vibration as the subframe is also bushed, stops the engine tipping back an makes a difference that is noticeable, there's a fair few people whove  also used hockey pucks an threaded bar

Surely making it completely solid will vibrate the cabin like hell. I personally wouldn't use standard threaded bar on an engine mount as it's only likely to be 8.8 tensile steel - soft as sh!t! It needs to 12.9 high tensile steel to be safe imo.

Just fitting the engine with 3 new engine mounts makes the best difference imo. Before I changed mine I could rock the engine by hand, now I can't.

Yeah, I thort the same, however mines been in there a couple of months and the mk2 doesn't get driven like miss daisy an it's fine, a fella I know has the same setup in his VRT an he's broke it once in over a year, but he is running 343 whp... So good enough for me, as for vibration, nope none, this is because the subframe is bushed, an they take up all of it on my mk2.
