Heater Matrix Again

Hi, I have been following the guide supplied on here, but I have come to a bit where I am unsure on what to do next.



I have stripped out until I have the above and I don't think I am far off now!

I have undone the 3 retaining bolts in the bulkhead, the two hoses, and the 6 metal clips (what an bugger they were!) that connect the centre box to the ducting to the left, but I am a bit unclear on what should be done next.  Is it the centre section that needs pulling out or do I have to do something with the section to the left?

You're about there! the heater box can get hung up on the treads that go through the bulkhead, so a wiggle and pull may be necessary, once the heater box is out, all will become clear

Hi Thom, so that is the centre section?  The left duct stays in place...nothing to do there?

I pulled the left duct out first but they might come out together. It's just the 3 bolts holding the lot in now so should just come out.

ps. check the flaps in the heater box, that foam looks like it's started flaking!

Yeah, I have order some closed type foam to replace.

I did try pulling the left ducting out, but it was not even slightly budging.  Was not sure whether I was meant to pull just the bottom section of it.  However, the centre section did move like it would come out.....if I don't need to move the left ducting i will leave it alone, though i will have to put the bottom section back on properly as it started to come away from the top section.

If only you'd discovered the fixing inside the cabin that holds the extreme left end of the blower duct in place.  IIRC it's like a plastic nut that fixes the duct onto a fixed stud sort of outboard and above where the blower unit sits. 

That way the whole shebang comes out together, and no need to wrestle with the clips you mentioned, they never need to come off this way.
