Top marks to the police!
« on: 16 October 2012, 23:44 »
Seeing as they get so much bad stick, just thought I'd share a story on Sunday.

Merc in front of us, older one, not sure what class, C maybe? Not really all that on Mercs. Anyway nice car good nick but all over the road. Bouncing off a few kerbs and then going sideways in front of us, oncoming traffic the lot.

Back off, ring police and they are asking questions and where he's going etc. and we turn off a roundabout and he goes a different way.

Get a phone back later, apparently they sent a squad car out asap, found it just gone into someone and was about to drive off, blocked by the path of a police car.

Then a phone call Monday asking details before an interview.

Not one for grassing people up willy nilly but you can't endanger others lives and get away with it!

Good shout police. :afro:

I've called Police in the past to report drunk drivers and they've been so good. The most recent one I was in a pub and I saw three guys absolutely plastered get in a car and just sit there and listen to music. I called the Police and reported them, but they said that because they hadn't actually turned the engine off they couldn't get done, so the guy told me to wait on the line and let him know when they turned the engine off. I waited on the line with the guy for about 15 minutes, in the meantime the operator was placing units on side roads nearby. He told me he needed to hang up as it had been a long time on the phone, but gave me a 2 digit reference number to quote if they drove off. So 5 minutes later I was still watching them when they started the car up and burned rubber all the way down the road. I called 999 again and straight away got through to Police, and quoted the reference number, literally less than 3 seconds later there was a police car with the lights on absolutely bombing it behind them. The operator thanked me very much and told me that they Police had just reported the vehicle had stopped and occupants arrested. Later on that same night I got another call from them thanking me and letting me know the driver was charged with drinking and driving and would be charged.

I was baffled at just how quick the Police responded and got behind the car, it was within seconds. Top work by them.

Things have changed since then, procedures, H&S standards, etc. We nearly always hear about how a copper was a cvnt that issued someone with a fine because they were running illegal plates or some other silly thing, but we almost never hear of good Samaritan policemen and women who are reasonable human beings like most of us and allow margin for error. Say what you want about police, but they're the first people you rely on if something they're needed for happens to you, so give them credit where it's due.

And well done for doing your job properly :afro:

Thanks... but i dont need any thanks really. Im just doing my job

As for the police... you want to hear how many people I know that have had break-ins only for the police to cause them more stress than the break in.

If you want a crime number... call the police. If you want something doing... do it yourself.

Well Khare has touched a point really!
Since that Hillsborough tragedy how many coppers did some good between then and now?
The problem with this whole blame game is someone has to lose a job or go to prision fo9r justice to be had. I think we as a nation do not learn enough from mistakes and have trouble moving on for the better?
