i opened up a hole, the same as the airbox inlet. easy enough to do with a stanley knife and hack saw blade. its just a highly packed paper fibre material
i cant see it doing any damage. engine warms up in the same amount of time. with the bonnet down its pretty protected from birds etc
i cant test the flow, but being one of the golfs high pressure points, and being around the inlet manifold area, im hoping it adds that little extra to keeping under bonnet temps cooler until i fit an uprated FMIC
