Lowering an Edition 30
« on: 14 October 2012, 17:51 »
Hello,

It's been awhile, I've gone from my mk4 gti, to a TT, to a Focus ST and now I'm in an Edition 30.  Out of the lot the Edition 30 is giving the best ride with lots of nice touches and the ST was just fast, but no toys!  I've been after a mk5 for a long time.

Anyway, I need some advice on what springs you'd all suggest for loweing the car a little as I think it rides too high for my liking.  Any views and pics would be good too   I've done a quick search and I'm sure this question has been asked before (sorry).  I personally think it only needs to drop a little but it just looks high on those standard 18's.

Oh and for the hell of it, any handy tips or mods that you'd recommend as well - hmm... too many questions in one post??!?!

Thanks in advance.

Steve

H&R lowering springs have been very popular with the guys on here. Good lower age without being too harsh. If you are looking to keep it comfortable then H&R springs and Koni FSD's are a decent set up.

I went for Bilstein B16's when I had the ed30 and they were better than stock ride on soft setting, but cost quite a bit.

Thanks I'll take a look.  My friend has a mk6 GTI and has just fitted the uprated VW suspension/springs and that has lowered his nicely and he seems pretty happy with the ride too.  Is that an option do you think for the Edition 30 or does it have the better set up fitted already?

My gti has Eibach pro springs, similar ride and height to oem so not really worth it.

Other one had VWR which I rate, ride isn't much differant to stick and lowers car a nice amount
