more santa pod pics!!!
« on: 12 July 2005, 10:51 »
just thought i'd add mine for ya'll to see!!

like the others have said it was a good day out, i had a nightmare set off late, company car broke down, got towed back by the RAC and thought i might as well make the effort, set off again in a borrowed car as my golf wasn't in the mood, missed a 3 car pile up on the m25 j10 by literaly a few minutes, got held up by another one a few junctions from the m1, this time 5 cars and finally made it to the pod at about 2!!

was good seeing the few people that came along, its just a shame there weren't more considering we've got almost 5000 members! shows are great for getting the entheusiasm up, getting inspiration and having a good gawp at feature cars you'll have seen in so many magazines.

for anyone who's never been to a show i strongly advise you to make the effort and if the weathers like it was at the weekend its a perfect day out!! even my girlfriend enjoyed it!

anyway....photos!

I could not agree more with what joe said, 5000 members and 10 - 15 actually turn up regulary to meets

dinx - that interior was up for sale a short while back

pinched from another thread but this:

I've got an idea, why not make an effort to come and meet some of us personally at a show instead of being a happy clapper behind your keyboard, you never know, you might actually like some of us.

is perfect

Is it just me or is anyone else getting tired of seeing the black 20vt rallye at shows now?

Its getting to the same point for me as that blooming orange mk1 cab, its always the same and has been around for a while, but the engine conversion has been done and yet, i have never seen it perform. Yeah great workmanship but just getting bored of seeing the same car over and over.

she's done a few more things since i last saw it, but i know what you mean. i think its always gonna be like that though. when no-rice used to be in guildford i used to go and get all excited about the cars but after a while you've seen them all before. there a a few cars that i love but there's no point making much effort to have a look after you've seen them so many times.

but short of selling it or doing some crazy makeover that'll cost a fortune in this country its hard to know what to do. keeping ahead of the trends is tricky alright!

i know what you mean slick but the same could be said of our club stands as it is usually the same cars there.

other than doing major make-overs all the time what can you do? just sell up and start another project?

continually evolving your car over years is the way to go. to be fair to janet the owner of the black rallye that is exactly what she has done. new wheels and respray this year, engine last year. this is the same car in '99:

bit of a difference!

Oh yeah, i am not denying that it is a good looking car, but tbh, the car was the same up until last summer. The thing i don't understand is that they have put that much money into making it a nice car with the power to match but to my knowledge i have never ever seen them showing it off.

It's all well and good having a car that can win prizes but if you have invested a lot of time and money into the engine then i think it should be shown off aswell.

I suppose this could all be down to me being a bit of a tech head and like to see things working rather than a nice bit of machinery sat gathering dust just being shown off. Seems a waste to me, but as i say different folks difffernt strokes.
