peoples thoughts on fmic pipework colour
« on: 10 October 2012, 16:41 »
so was gonna go for black so you cant see the pipes thru the front bumper (got r32 rep) but at the mo i have got blue silicone pipes and blue tb, dv, n95 pipes etc.. just now i goin front mount i didnt wanna replace all the others...

so oppinions please... shall i order them all in blue so the bay is still blue, but order the bottom pipes (that could be visible in the grill of the bumper) black?

or go all blue?

i want my car to be a 'sleeper', and as i think i will eventually have the 'murdered' look dont think blue hoses would look the part if they were visible!!

What about silver? to match the intercooler? personally If and when I ever do that kind of upgrade I know it isnt cheap so I personally would want to see my lovely work each time I look at my car because I know that each time I saw it, it would bring a nice grin to my face :)

good thinking but that would mean more possible leak spots  but is food for thought cheers

Black every time

just in the front or in the bay aswell??

thinking if people see under the bonet they might be like "your hoses dont match you bodger" but then again they might be like "looking at it from outside you wouldnt think there was all that under there"

what am i goin on about

anyone got any pics of fmic with r32 bumper??

there's a pretty simple solution to this that I'm surprised you havn't thought about.....

All the hoses under the bonnet, within the engine bay, order them in blue, then it'll look nice when you pop the bonnet.

The lower hoses that come off the core, order them in black, then it'll remain stealthy.

there's a point on each side there the hoses leave the engine bay and disappear, only reappearing again on either side of the core. Nobody is going to care that they're black externally and blue under the bonnet, and you get the best of both worlds :)

Doubt u would have leaks if u used sandwhich silicone piping between the silver pipes and bends althou id be concerned with the metal pipes having a build up of condantsaion in the winter?

Leave as silver, you wont see much of them beind the R32 bumper especially with the honeycombe inserts
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)
