Air con faults/repairs
« on: 10 October 2012, 11:20 »
Is there a complete guide to the Aircon system in a MK4?
I have done a complete search of posts and guides and cant find one

I just bought a MK4 1.8t for my Girlfriend and cant get the Air con system to work, so would be nice to check it all before i stick it in to specialists.

check the green fuses on top of the battery give them a wiggle whilst the air con is on, to see if the compressor kicks in

Sorry i am unfamiliar with the MK4 1.8t engine bay layout and i have no manual to help recognise parts/area yet

I have check all Fuses and everything is good.
But from reading other forums about this problem my understanding is that when the engine is running and i switch on the AC the fans should run at low speed.
Unfortunately they are not.
But when the engine gets hot enough both fans are kicking in.
Need to do a bit more reading/understanding but from what i gather so far my fans are knackered and i need to replace them or wire in a couple of resistors.

Managed to check, the fans are working on both speeds so that's one less thing to worry about...............the search continues!
