Hi Peeps,
My Mk3 GTI 8v wont start! Verrry occasionally it will start fine, sometimes it will turn part way over, sometimes the starter just clicks...
If I put a 12v feed to the starter it just clicks. Taken the starter out and tested it - works fine...
Put it back in, starts once then doesnt again?!
Could it be something wrong with the flywheel/alignment of gearbox?
Its like it gets part way around and then its too hard to finish the cycle...
Thanks

Will

  • Back in a Mk3...
try to wriggle the key and see if it catches more... if that helps you need a new ignition switch

Fixed - Battery was goosed, even when it had jump leads it played up, put direct power from 12v supply to the plug on starter and it turns over no prob...car must detect the low power in battery?
Thanks
