Rear back door - endless hassle
« on: 06 October 2012, 19:00 »
Rear left back door on my GTI has been un-openable now for a year. Today after it started leaking water i've managed to take off the door card and am now stuck with the inside metal card with the motor attached, part hanging off.

Has anyone had this similar problem? The door handle is also broken, and the problem lies with the child lock.

Does anyone know if i would be able to take the door off? or whether this is unfixable?

Any help would be great, before i bin the damn car.

Thanks

You need to knock the plastic peg out that holds the window to the motor, then the plate will come free. After that it's a case of doing most of it blind as the module is right up inside. If you get me pics of everything I can guide you as I had to find out all of this the hard way when I did mine.

I have a similar problem where the front passenger door won't open from the inside or outside handles. The pin appears to go up and down when I lock and unlock the car with the remote though, so I'm not sure if the locking module is completely gone but something definitely appears to be amiss.

So far I've managed to gain access to remove the door card by first removing the passenger seat. Keep us posted with any updatess.
