Setting a Forge actuator
« on: 05 October 2012, 00:48 »
Hi,
Is it common practice to set the actuator (yellow springe) at a three turn pre load (of the nuts). At this setting car feels smooth with nice progression of boost,,(I`ve not give it the full berries yet) as i dont want any damage to occur.
What is the allen key grub screw for on the side of the actuator for?
Ball ache of a job to fit actuator (im good with spanners) took 10 hours to dismantle and fit plus all new bolts, nuts, washers and gaskets,,,plus hacksawing a few mill off turbo stub fixing for for middle bolt on bracket (which doesn`t align)Even though Forge had all my details about K03 1999 AGU turbo (bracket seemed slightly out).
P.S Dropped oil and coolant to do this job and have never done any turbo work before.
Thanks,,It has made a difference to the car, glad i did this job..

Just wanted the right setting.
The old actuator had a five turn pre load.

Yeh, its on the side easy to get to ,just wanted to know what its for.Didn`t know if  it locked the piston/diaphram inside or it did something else.
