New Mk6 GTI Edition 35 owner from Teesside!
« on: 03 October 2012, 20:19 »
Hi guys

I'm pleased to say that I found this site this evening, so though t I'd say hello!  Any members of mk5golfgti.co.uk and golfmkv.com might remember me.

Here's my GTI story.

I previously owned a 2008 Mk5 GTI Steel Grey 3dr, an ex-Bently press car with 5,000 miles when I bought it.  I absolutely loved this car and kept it for 3 years (18 months longer than any other car I've owned!) but earlier on in the year I thought I needed a bigger car.  I test drove loads but couldn't find anything that did for me what the GTI did, until I found the BMW M3 V8.  Convinced myself that this is what I needed and part ex'd my Golf for a Jerez Black 5 door.  BIG MISTAKE and I knew it as soon as I picked it up.  The M3 is a very lazy car surprisingly, in that you need to rev the knackers off them to get the to shift in the real world.  Lovely car but to cut a long story short I missed my GTI so much that after 6 months of ownership, I found a perfect ex demo Edition 35 5dr in Deep Black Pearl with only 2800 miles on it and now I'm happy to say that the BMW has gone and the GTI is sitting on my drive looking mean and purposeful! :D

I haven't looked back, the Golf is my ideal everyday car, it does everything well, it's reliable, fun, well built and 95% of the time it is as quick as a 420BHP M3.  No looking back now!

My plans for the Golf at the moment aren't very exciting, I'll be giving it a good old polish and wax this weekend and fitting a removable tow bar to it for my biking exploits (don't do roof racks anymore since my previous Golf suffered an unfortunate injury at the hands of one!).

Anyway, it's great to be back and I'm just sorry that I ever left.  I just hope that my Mk5 is as loved by it's new owner as it was by me! :)
