You should have 2 leads for the "Media in" socket Keith. One with a USB end and the other for an ipod/phone.

Well mine only came with the one in the armrest for USB attachment, is the other one supplied by default?

There should be one on the outside of the armrest as well that just takes a jack plug.

Yes there is a round socket on the front of the armrest but I don't have a cable that fits it.

Its just a simple jack to jack socket.

Yes it is. They tend to "go missing" and end up on ebay next to listings for "missing" bottle openers.

thanks for all the advice guys !

I have tried this morning with a USB flash drive which connected, but said it couldn't find any audio files (mind you it was a very old one) and also an old MP3 player that I'd forgotten we still had and that worked !!!

I have been using the plug in the arm rest with the USB connector cable...still can't work out why it doesn't like the original player, but I guess that doesn't really matter now I have got it to work... at least I don't have to put up with just the radio now  - thanks again

How are you loading them on? I make a file on the flash drive for each album, then rip a cd using either windows media player or itunes, then copy the music into the files on the flash drive. They need to be copied as FAT32 files. I have no idea what that means, but using the media player or itunes, it just works.

I just copied and pasted from the c drive to the flash drive using windows explorer (no idea what format !) ... I'm not very techy but I'll give it go !!

Right click the drive in windows explorer and select properties it will tell you its "File System" it needs to be "FAT32" not "NTFS".  If you need to change it copy eveything off it (if thats your only copy).  Then Right Click on the drive letter and select "Format" this time (ensure that the have definetly selected the mp3 player or flash drive set the File system to be "FAT32" click "Start" once its finished copy your music back and this time it should work.  The files need to be mp3 or wma file types/extensions.
