Dressing rubber window seals
« on: 30 September 2012, 10:32 »
Hi gents, as per the title i'm looking for a product to dress the rubber window surrounds but want something that won't run down the paintwork as soon as it rains

I've got a little bit of C4 left but i think thats more for plastics?

Thanks.

Carpro DLUX will do the trick, and you can use it on plastics, it's a permanent coating so will last ;)

Just had a little look, is it the same type of stuff as C4?

aerospace 303 is a good product for this

http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/interior/303-aerospace-protectant/prod_366.html

I've looked at 303 loads of times just never got round to ordering some, if it's long lasting and won't run then maybe it could be ideal as i'm looking for an engine dressing as well??

What do we think?

I've got some of that stuff and absolutely detest it! the dealer tells me it's because of that stuff that they had to replace all my door seals! >:(

 :o really? tell me more?
My door seals started creaking a little so after some research decided to get some as apparently lots of people have used it for this as well as some EOS owners to stop the roof creaking, i put a little on the felt seals and contrary to what i'd read it actually made the creak slightly worse! :'(  so after a visit to my local dealer who refused to do anything i went to the dealer i bought the car from who took one look at the seals and said "have you put something on these?" I actually had the bottle in the car at the time so i showed him, he said that it had "most likely" made the seals start to perish :o
I'm just lucky really that my supplying dealer is fairly laid back with regards to the VW warranty as it shouldn't really have been covered, they've been fine ever since they were replaced with just a little wax on the body around the door opening.
