hi i was hoping somebody may be able to answer a question i have about the rear brake compensator on the mk3. Right here goes i have a early mk3 vr6 with a compensator that i am currently restoring (the car) and i also have a late mk3 gti that doesn't have a compensator that i've been driving for the last 5 years, could somebody tell me why VW changed this design setup and also could you tell me if i would need to put the compensator back on when i put the rear beam back on ? and would it make a differance if i didn't put it back on? the VR6 does have ABS. any answers would be a help

I suggest you google search what a rear brake compensator does, then make your own decision.
To explain to you would take me to much time
be easier for you to read else where.
But yes put it back in
