What box

Hi ppl ive have a mk1 gti running a 9a with r1 carbs on a standard box im finding my cruising speed a bit to slow on long trips about 65 and tops about pretty early . Anyone advise me on better box with longer gears would prefer to stick to a rod change box . Thanks

if it's the original 16v box it should be doing no more than 3k rpm at 70mph, if yours is revving more you most likely have an 8v box or less, get a decent 16v box from the mk2 KR engine, that should be plenty for your needs, you may need to swap to the 16v clutch too so be prepared for that
