Ok so I have just bought the car 9th September.
It’s a Mk4 Golf GTi 1.8 20v Turbo
3 Doors, Black, 175k,
A little about the car.
It is standard other than some “Lexus style” clear rear lights : \ the interior was mucky and the roof lining was now a shade of black rather than cream! There are a few scuffs here and there but nothing major other than the boot is rusted to hell. So sourced one on this site only a few miles from home with zero rust and was black which helps although it’s a flat black and mine is metallic but I’m thinking about having it smoothed so no problem. It is in the garage this weekend having a new timing belt kit, water pump and MOT so I’m using my other car until it’s back. There was a blowing noise so I took it to the garage and they said it could either be 1. Cracked manifold 2. Manifold gasket or 3. Flexi pipe had gone? It is on 175k with the last belt done at 112k so better to get it done while the blowing is getting fixed. When I accelerated it was as if the actuator was noisy? Maybe just all down to the blowing? Fingers crossed it’s stopped when I get it back?

Source a new boot
Replace the clear lights to original ones
Wash and polish to get it looking a bit better
Clean the roof lining to the best standard I can (Will be getting a full interior valet)
Coilovers
New exhaust
R32 Front bumper
Front mounted intercooler
New wheels (Calibre Vintage)
Full respray and smooth the rear bumper and do away with the rub strips on the side
New number plates
Forge 007p dump valve
Remap
Better clutch to cope with the remap
Heko wind deflectors
Wrap interior handles and centre console parts in carbon vinyl
Armrest
Repair seats (Drivers right hand seat bolster has worn but there are no rips or burns to any of the seats)
Boost gauge
New engine cover
New gear knob
I think that is all I plan on doing for now but who knows ;)
So this was after her first wash and polish

Here is a photo from the website showing what it would look like, handy that it's a black Mk4 :)

Calibre Vintage indeed  your wheels look sick too mate! I will updated as soon as things progress but funds are low and I'm off work due to a bad back!  I could change my side lights to LED's I guess

LED sidelights fitted. A major improvement to the standard lights I think?! Worth the hassle of taking the bumper off to remove the lights. Another plus I now know how to whip the bumper off when I get my R32 bumper! Need to get saving! Holidays, girlfriend the pub! Ha ha

Would like an OEM one for the washer jets in the bumper and all the replica ones don't seem to have them and I would like xenons :D

So today while I had a spare hour away from the girlfriend I decided to start rubbing down my manifold

This was just after I had started so I don't have a before photo but you can clearly see how the manifold was on the parts I couldn't reach without stripping everything back

This was after about 10-15 minutes rubbing down with hemry paper

After I got bored of rubbing down I thought I would try a sample with p2000 grit wet and dry (the wet being my spit) ha ha

Still a hell of a long way to go but the missus was getting bored ha ha. I also fixed back my inner arch liner as it was rubbing on the o/s front tyre. Left me a nice hole so I don't have to do the TT arch mod now ha ha :)
