RCD510 Security Code
« on: 22 September 2012, 08:37 »
Morning all,

I've just received an RCD510 radio that i bought off Ebay. The radio has come with a security code but it is 8 digits long. I thought i had read that the security code is 4 digits - can anyone confirm?

Thanks

Matt

Definitely only 4 digits on when I installed mine a couple of weeks ago.

I've contacted the seller but i'm not sure whether he will be able to help. What do i need to do to get the code?

VW got the code for mine for me but mine was factory fitted and they may not be able to get your code. If the seller can't get it to you then I'd dispute it through eBay for a full refund.

Cheers,

Jim

I've just emailed the salesperson who sold me the car to see if he can help if i give him the serial number. I've also seen that there are companies on ebay offering a decode service but i'd want the seller of the radio to pay for this.

Annoying!

my code was 4 digits too. if you have the vin of the original vehicle, the dealer could get it for you.

Yep, it is a 4 digit code. The dealer would be able to find the original code if you give him the radios serial number and the chassis number of the car it was originally fitted to.

If the seller doesn't have the code, you may question where he got it from.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Got hold of the code but unfortunately the cd changer doesn't work

Just packaged it up and sending it back for a refund.
