I always put a new cable on with a clutch (if it's a clutched cable) seeing as they are cheap. Not really worth the hassle without as you're proving.

Euro car parts, £25 or £35 depending on how long the old one is. Stick in MIDMONTH30, get 30% off and happy days!

If there is an adjuster on it, you can try it but I'd still reccomend a new cable.

I believe the 1.2 is hydro and is a strange system to bleed.

Its probably where it should be, remember this is a new clutch, and not the old knackered one, give it a week to get used to it...

Surely it should be nearer the bottom though?

Unless it's auto adjust and slowly working in?

Come to think of it. If it is the hydro box its the same as the box on a Nissan Micra and after doing that the clutch is high even after bleeding it properly.

Without any of us actually sitting in the car and trying said clutch, then a bit of common sense should come into play, shot clutches either slip, or have a biting thats on the floor... new clutches have a high biting point, and feel much lighter
Advising the OP to start changing things is simply poor advice, taking it back to the garage seems like a better idea, so they can check, and give a qualified opinion based on how the clutch behaves...
And dont call me surely

if it cabel clutch it may want loosening a littel.  if its hydro that just may be how they are.   both my passat and A4 felt like they had wierd clutch pedals but there just like that.  small littel girly cars tend to have fluffy light pedals
all the VW's have gone bar 1.
