« on: 13 September 2012, 20:16 »
i brought a new light for my kitchen. it has a three plug connection eath live and neutral. the wires are 3 reds and 3 blacks and then a green/black which is the earth. i put all the reds 2gether and all the blacks and put then in it to the connections but the thing is now it wont switch off. when the light switch off it has power but as soon as u touch the switch it blows the fuse

What you've done wrong, is not connected the switch as a switch, you've put all the lives together meaning both sides of the switch are live which ever position it's in.

You'll need to take it all apart again and test with a continuity tester for the switch line. You ought to have 4 connections, permanant live, neutral, switched live and earth. Sounds like you only have the 3 connections.

Wouldn't make any difference, still the same connections at the light.
