Mk3 headlights
« on: 12 September 2012, 06:28 »
I was wondering what the most popular headlight upgrades/conversions for the Mk3 Golf are?
We have a GL with the small inner high beam and large low beam all under the one glass. There appear to be a huge number of variations available both from other Golf models as well as aftermarket.
Do any stand out as looking better than the others or are better value?
I'd prefer them to drop straight in, but I don't mind a bit of modification to make them fit. Wiring is no challenge and the least of my concerns.
I'm also changing out the yellow blinker lens and going clear fogs and indicators in the bumper bar.
Its my daughters car and she's going for a classy or more modern look rather than bling or pocket rocket.

Dont bother with after market stuff.

Stick with hella.

So you can get gti/vr6 headlights, or the hella twin lamps.

Plugs can be different from early mk3's to late mk3's so get the lights from a car same year as yours.

I agree. Stick with origional lights. I tried aftermarket and all lights misted up so put my origional hellas bk on

I put an uprated headlight loom on mine and it made a massive difference. It was a pain to do but worth it for me, although I make looms for Corrados and Mk1 and Mk2 Golfs so had most of the parts.

Stick with oem Gti or hella quads if you prefer, aftermarket just spoils the pedigree.

You guys say OEM GTI lights, is that the like "2 section" headlights like I have in my sig? Whilst the others are the single light that uses H4 bulbs?
