Getting to Heathrow - Mid week morning traffic?
« on: 11 September 2012, 23:05 »
I plan to pick my girlfriend up from Heathrow terminal 5 next Wednesday.
She lands at 8:45am, so I'd like to be there around then, 9am at the latest.

I'll travel from Leighton Buzzard, the usual route would be to join the M1 at J9, then go round the M25 to Heathrow.

I've looked into it and it seems that the traffic often comes to a standstill joining the M25 from the M1 and anti clockwise on the M25.

Does anyone here have experience of that route or a similar route to get to Heathrow or somewhere nearby in the morning?
What sort of time does it take to travel?
Or would I be best trying a different route like the M40?

I'd allow 2hrs to do that at that time of day, should get you there with plenty of time if things are normal, and it can take you 20 mins to park' get a coffee etc

You can cut through slough.

I would rather leave early and wait for her. I was staying at a premier inn at terminal 5. Traffic is shocking at that time.

Leave early dude

Just checked route planner and it says one hour but you will easy sit in traffic for a hour.

I would give it two and a half hours if you want to arrive at that time.

That's what I was thinking, another option I had is to stay at her the night before in High Wycombe and go from there.
That would usually be a 30 minute drive, then go M40, A355 into slough then along the M4 which misses out the majority of the M25 that I would have to use otherwise.

Bloody logistics

I'd do the second option dude.

I had to dona trip to Bedford from fleet so going the other way up the m25.

We were free flowing, but the other direction (the way you'll be coming) was jam-packed and didn't change for about 45 minutes of me moving.

Horrible journey.
Project longterm Airbanger.
