Anybody owned a Boxster 3.2 S 987?

M3 is not really in the same category. S2000 is a death wish and the 350z is lardy not to mention jap so not even close to the interior quality of the Z4M or Boxster.

A friend of mine was hunting for about a year for a decent one. He was insistent on taking each one for an independent specialist inspection at £200 a pop too, and looked at six before finding one that got the all clear! HGs were a common problem, as well as coil packs iirc. As mentioned, avoid the 2.8s, and get one with all the toys if u can. Look forward to seeing it.

Not that I've drove hardly any of the cars mentioned but a e46 m3 just doesn't feel fast. It is fast, I'm just talking about feel here.

My dream car is a 996 and I would love a boxtser.

Do it! i too am starting to feel the Porsche itch having recently driven my uncles millennium edition 911 that he paid 13k for, nearly 13 years old and still tight as a drum! horrible colour interior though!  


I would personally prefer a Cayman to a Boxster as i look like a right plonker driving a soft top sports car! mid life crisis and all that!

Mikey, Boxsters have major oil pump issues, apparently their is, an audible way of detecting the fault, but its not a run of the mill diagnosis, pump failure will render the engine scrap, due to the massive cost of repair, second hand units are like Hens teeth, or stolen!
You need to speak to an independent Porsche specialist to learn the ins and outs,
I'd also get an independent engineers report on any car your serious about...
Out of all the Boxsters I've come across over the years, I cant remember one that I'd consider owning! theirs an awful lot of sh!te out there

Thanks Tom, the main issues I have read have been oil related. The one I am viewing tomo is for sale at a Porsche specialist so I'm hoping the condition should be good. They also offer a warranty which should give some peace of mind.

I will be sure to get on hands ad knees to check for oil leaks.

I've been doing lots of Porsche reading recently. My investigations lead me to suggest purchasing a car through someone like 911 virgin, Hartech or Autobahn.

Yep. Stuck a deposit down on a Boxster S. Bought it from a Porsche Specialist and got a warranty on it which is good.

Pick it up friday so i will post some pictures.
