Really sorry to hear this, sorry if this is a silly question but it's not been towed has it?

Rare for such a new car to be stolen in the street in an area as busy as chinatown (presume you mean London). must have taken them an hour to clear the traffic and go one mile.

Without quoting the obvious, you should check the street for all the parking signs etc. As someone said; it wouldn't have been taken by a private firm would it? were you parked over a garage, or entrance etc??

The amount of CCTV footage in that square mile would be able to tell you if it was driven or on the back of a truck having been lifted.

Good luck with the search Steve.

Really sorry to hear about this. The rate of car thefts is, sadly, on the increase.

As others have said, it may have been towed, normally, every vehicle that is towed via police means (obstruction offences) has a "removed" report added to PNC immediately. Most private clamping companies will inform the police when they remove a vehicle.

In London there is an organisation called TRACE.
"This is a free 24-hour call centre which locates cars that have been removed from any London street. They will provide you with the location of the vehicle....why it was removed....and how it may be recovered. TRACE handles nearly 15,000 calls each month and their telephone number is:  0845 206 8602".
The Police do check this every time a stolen report is made, although it can take a little time for the database to be updated.

Was there any pieces of window glass nearby? It is very easy now to take a vehicle without the keys by overriding the OBD port with some easily available electronics. BMWs can be taken in around 10 seconds and VAG cars arn't too far behind.
A pair of fake plates and cars can disappear quite easily.

I hope your car is found if nothing more than to allow the toe rag's nuts to be severed from his body. Hope your insurance get their fingers out and sort things.

All the best,

Detritus.

Great News pal, esp about the laptop, have you actually seen the damage yourself? If not are gonna get to see it before the insurance takes it to repair it? Only ask as I'm wondering if you got a pics fella...

Good to hear it been found mate
