Changing front lights
« on: 07 July 2005, 08:58 »
Hi,

I need to replace some of the front lights on my big bumper and I got the parts in. When I went to replace them I found it was not as simple as I'd hoped. For the smaller grill headlamps the lamps are screwed into the grill where the screws connect through the front of the grill and tighten against plastic clips that fit within screw holes of the lamp fitting. On the new lamps there are no plastic clips so I need to remove the old ones. I tried doing this by turning the plastic clip with a pair of pliars but this just snapped the plastic! So; I'll have to get some new ones of these and I don't know where I can get them from. Can anyone give me a pointer? Also, is it possible to remove these clips from the lamp fitting and reuse them on a new lamp?

Thanks in advance, salv.

Hi
Try ringing GSF or euro car parts if not your local dealership should be able to order you some in, get your headlights aimed at an mot place after probably cost you a fiver but worth it.
Good luck!

Probably got lost in the "Great Crash of 08

saldavorescobar,

I'm doing this today. I had to order the parts for the lights from VW as they are main stealership only. Cost about £11 including VAT so not too bad. Make sure you go to the dealer and point out the bits you want on their exploded diagram as more often than not you get the wrong bits. They will probably have to order them in as they don't seem to stock much stuff for the older dubs.

If I get time I'll find the bags mine came in later an dpost up the part number.

Hey Nick, sorry to hijack the thread, but you picked the wrong time of day to try and get south down the A33 from M4 J11 the other day!

I was the guy driving the Royal blue 5 door.

saldavorescobar,

The part number you require is 191 998 135 A and you need to sets of these. They're dead easy to fit but the old ones can be a bit stubborn to remove. Here some pics of my new lamps fitted.
