i know it says for a vr6 but aint they 288mm ones like mine .... 1996 8v i have

Might help if you include a link to the parts but am guessing its brake discs which are 288 mm for the 8v as well.

After 1995 the GTI's and vr6 had the 288mm setup

Wouldn't bother. Red stuff = meh and drilled discs are the route to crack town.
