Brembo standard brake setup?
« on: 07 September 2012, 13:10 »
Looking to replace my brake setup and can get front and rear discs and pads for £150, they are Brembo but just the standard vented non drilled or grooved nothing special. Does anyone know if these are any good compared to other standard replacements?

was originally thinking black diamond but read some bad stuff about them plus the set will be around £100 more expensive :/

Anyone tried the Brembos?

I have the full set of brembo pads and discs on my car- am really pleased with them, think they are just an OEM replacement any how. Looked at getting drilled discs but was put off by reviews of they don't really offer anything more and have a tendency to crack.

Yeah I wouldn't get drilled because of the cracking issue I've been mainly looking at grooved performance discs, all a bit pricey for me at the mo though and although I have the 20vt which is why I was originally looking at performance discs and pads, I don't drive the car hard its just a daily for the foreseeable future

Also I dont think performance pads would get hot enough to perform at their best with my everyday driving against OEM stuff which I guess is designed to operate at colder temps?

I'll go with the Brembos then unless I come across anything better in the next couple days :)

You have a 16v right? Do you know which front pads I need as on the website there are 2 part numbers for front pads, P85015 and P85032. Not sure which ones I need for my 5 stud setup  :undecided:

Yeah 16v- what website you looking at? I got mine from apbrakediscs.co.uk and they checked my VIN number to ensure I got the right set, I haven't got the boxes any more so unsure on part number

only difference on the gti (16v or 8v...) is what size front discs it has pre 95 280mm or post 95 288mm

That's what I thought but there are definitely 2 different pad listed on this site. Doesn't matter now though as I'm getting them from somewhere else
