with the location of the fusebox by the drivers knee, immobilising a mk2 golf is both cheap free and easy. however if someone turns up with a fusebox and all the relays im f**ked

i have no radio to steal either

Are you doing it for insurance purposes as well as found my immobiliser didn't make my insurance cheaper and it's the Toad one!
No not insurance reason, so the tw@t that tried to steal it has no chance of getting it away

I really wouldn't bother.

Just either pull the fuel pump relay when you leave the car, or put in a hidden kill-switch.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

I had to have a CAT 1 alarm/immob fitted in order to get insurance. It was a Cobra system and was £240 fitted. Fairly basic, couple of sensors inside and one on bonnet and boot.

Had it fitted by a 'professional' shop in Hemel because I needed the fitting certificate. They did an OK job but got arsey when I asked for all connections to be soldered because I didn't want any electric connectors to be used. Seems to work fine although my battery goes dead after 2 weeks, seems to be the norm though. I now have a mains battery conditioner/charger that keeps the battery topped up, works a treat.

Toad Ai606 is a good bet. It's more who you get to install it to be honest.

I've had an Ai606 sat in it's box for well over a year waiting for installation but not found a reputable fitter yet.

The system is around £100. Fitting is around £120-150 from what I've seen.

I take it that does both pre and post 90 models? I have a 90 but I think it's a post 90, I rus running this by an auto electrician with a view to getting this and he asked me to check,

I cant see any reason why it would make any difference to pre or post 90 spec model...

Both have the same Central locking and both have the same basic ignition looms just different fuseboxes that they plug in to..

any immob fitted to a golf2 is so easy to defeat it's pointless fitting.

i will actualy go as far as saying all aftermarket immobs are inerrantly crap and so very easy to bypass they are worthless
