are you going from an 8v?

see in these conversions the gearbox from mk3 16v's is often used as it can handle the power..

the early 1.8T engines aren't much differnt powerwise from the 2.0 16v ABF lump.. later ones are.

of course they're mappable...

why not just buy a '6? probably a lot less hassle and expense if you just want power...

Would be fine if you have it remapped

so as I'm sure you guys can understand although beautiful car they kinda forgot to put some power under the engine
i also would like to say that if anyone on this site that new anybody injured by the blasts today i would just like to say my heart is with them and i hope they recover quickly
it makes me angry that we can let this happen in todays technological society
my deepest sympathies go out to all injured and affected by todays tragedies

with a '6 (or valver..)  you also get the uprated brakes.. and ABS if you dont have that too..
plus now prices are down a lot.. more toys like air-con etc etc..

plus you get the obvious advantages of having stock running gear

Hi mate,

I've been looking at VR's recently. You can get a pretty decent one with good history for about £3k +. On the other hand it would be cool to have a mk3 with a 1.8T engine. Could get it remapped to over 200bhp. Hmm.... Guess it depends on how much you like your current car.

andeh your thinking along the same lines as me you see i knew that the 18t could be fiddled with to produce some astounding bhp
but as i have so can a vr6
so now its just a question of money lol

Take all the best bits from your mk3 sell it then  buy a vr6 ,save up for a supercharger kit  (less than you think ) and then you have all the power of the 1.8t with no difficult/expensive/timeconsuming engine swaps and you can revert it to standard if you want to sell it later,
thats what im trying to do if i can ever get the funds together
