Evo - any guess estimates when examples for people to sit in \ look at will be hitting the UK dealers?

Personally for me I'd want to see a 5 door one in cold steel. It's got to make me go wow I want one of them before I pop a deposit on the car (reading that back - doesn't sound right!  :embarrassed:).
Errr.... anyway.. for me it's got some tough competition next year as wife really likes the mk6 gti (she's it's main driver). When we first saw the mk6 in black with 18inch  shadow monza's with the tasty updated interior, (and a quick test drive), it had that wow! factor, put a huge smile on the face, which then resulted in deposit being  placed then about a 9 or 10 month wait ensued.

Suspect it would be up against a fairly short list a new shape S3, new shape Merc A class AMG, would like to dabble with a TT RS or go totally mad with an R8 but she prefs 5 door hatch backs. (don't like focus \ astra \ 1 series).

Will look forward to seeing in for real.

New Golf: revolutionary technology, evolutionary design
03 Oct 12
VW1295-12

The new Golf – the MkVII – is a game-changer. It redefines its class by showcasing technologies that, until now, were only available in upper segments. And it’s underpinned by the revolutionary MQB platform, which will form the basis of a number of Volkswagens of all sizes: from Polo to Passat.

It’s the latest evolution of a modern classic, the most important model in the Volkswagen range, and set to further build on the 29 million global sales notched up since the first Golf rolled off the production line in 1974.

Overview
Prices start at £16,330 for a 1.2TSI 85PS three-door
Opens for ordering on 18 October
Retailers’ cars will arrive in the first week of January 2013
On sale Monday 7 January 2013
Three trim lines at launch, in three- and five-door versions: S, SE and GT
BlueMotion, GTI and GTD versions will follow in mid-2013
Best-selling 1.6TDI 105PS engine now only emits 99g/km of CO2, making it exempt from road tax and the congestion charge
Fuel consumption has improved by an average of 14 per cent across the range
Features a number of innovative new safety systems, many of which are fitted as standard
Insurance ratings have improved by between two and 13 groups across the range
Residual values (RVs) improve to 47 per cent (for the most popular version, the 1.6TDI SE 105PS)

Yes thats the right price so £435 more than the outgoing model but you gain parking sensors, auto headlights etc, Sat nav, Ambient lighting, ADC cruise control, City emergency braking, electric folding mirrors, paddle shift on steering wheel, touch screen radio, 2 x sd card readers. Downside you loose leather........
