side trim & arch covers help

hi, im going to be removing the arch covers off my 3 dr gti before i have it resprayed
do i need the side trim off another golf that didnt have the arch covers as standard?
or will the ones i have fitted now be long enough without the arch covers on?

I think its the trim from a cl or highline that you need ,
